Hair transplantation for men

What is the FUE method of hair transplantation?

FUE (follicular unit extraction, or sometimes called follicular unit transplantation) is a hair transplantation technique in which individual hair follicles are extracted from a part of the donor's body, usually from the sides and back of the head. These individual follicles are then implanted in the desired locations. Men are characterised by missing hair on the front of the head, which looks like the classic horseshoe shape.

What is a hair graft in a hair transplant?

A hair graft is a hair transplant unit. It contains the hair follicle, which after transplantation produces hair. The graft is made up of follicles - usually between 1 and 4 hairs. It is also taken into account to estimate the total cost of a hair transplant operation.

How does the FUE method of hair transplantation work?

Procedures During the procedure, individual follicles - usually 1 to 4 hairs - are removed under local anaesthesia. The extraction procedure uses a microsurgical extraction instrument with a diameter of between 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm to remove the follicles. The transplantation specialist then transplants the follicles into the desired locations using specialised microfibre needles. Our specialists are experts at blending the hair, placing it at the correct angle and density to match the natural hair placement and therefore resemble a natural and natural hair type.

How long is the hair transplant procedure?

FUE hair transplantation without ringlets and seamless hair can be done in one longer session or in several smaller sessions. It does not leave the obvious and typical scars left after surgery. The length of the FUE procedure can vary, but it usually depends on how many grafts need to be transplanted. A smaller procedure, which only requires about 500 grafts, can be completed in a few hours. However, a larger procedure with 3000 grafts will require a session lasting one day. Only local anaesthesia is used during the hair transplant procedure and the patient does not feel any pain during the procedure. During this time, the patient is in a sitting position and is able to watch TV, use the phone, laptop or read a book.

How long does it take to recover from the procedure?

FUE hair transplantation does not require scalp excision. There are also no incisions on the back of the head and it leaves no scars. When the individual follicles are removed, only small puncture scars remain, which are practically invisible to the naked eye. There is no major pain or discomfort after the procedure and the average recovery period is usually seven days. During these days, the transplanted hair must not be touched as there is a risk of it being pulled out unintentionally. Particular care should be taken during the first four days after the procedure.

How long do the results of a hair transplant last?

Once you have made FUE hair transplantationthe results are permanent and the transplanted hair does not fall out. The original transplanted hair will appear a few weeks after treatment. It takes time for them to grow in and start forming a new hair shaft. Usually, the first noticeable results are around 3 to 4 months after transplantation. By this time, approximately 15% of all transplanted follicles should have grown. After 6 months, approximately 55 to 60% and only after a year the result is considered complete. It is considered a very good result if between 90 and 95% of all transplanted hair grows out. It will grow and become natural, strong and healthy.
